Early November, I received some complaints about Guilt Battle Arena not working. Players were reporting a crash at launch and therefore couldn’t play the game. Big issue though… I was in the middle of Peru, in Oxapampa without my Nintendo Switch nor my equipment to fix the issue.
I contacted my brother via Facebook to know if it was a global issue or not. Unfortunately, it was… all the Nintendo Switch were impacted by the bug. The only way to play the game was to start the game while in plane mode until you get your first game save. Then you could play the game while connected to internet.
I was in Lima so the internet was better than in Oxapampa. To fix the issue I had only one solution… I contacted my Mom via Skype, I asked her to get the computer and all the needed equipment out of the moving boxes and to plug everything back. Then I asked her to connect the computer to internet and launch Team Viewer so I could drive my computer from Lima.
After few minutes I found out that something was wrong with PlayFab (the Analytics provider I am using for Guilt Battle Arena). Since it was very hard to test things because I needed my Mom to physically operate on the dev-kit I simply decided to unplug PlayFab from the Nintendo Switch version. After all it is more important for players to be able to play the game than for me to collect some analytics! The patch is available today, thank you for your patience.
I will be forever thankful to me Mom who helped me out without asking a question. To thanks her, I sent her a plant hoping that it will bloom and make beautiful flowers.
